In-Home Sales Is A Lot Like the Movie Groundhog Day…

The movie "Groundhog Day" follows the story of Phil Connors, a cynical weatherman played by Bill Murray, who finds himself stuck in a time loop, reliving the same day over and over again—Groundhog Day, in Punxsutawney, PA. Initially frustrated by the repetition to the point of suicide, (FYI: This is a comedy) Phil undergoes a transformation as he learns to use each repeated day to improve himself and the lives of those around him. The film explores themes of self-discovery, personal growth, and the impact of one's actions on others. Ultimately, Phil breaks the time loop, having evolved into a better person, and the movie concludes with a positive and heartwarming resolution.

Your salespeople often encounter a similar challenge while enduring the monotony and frustration of being stuck in their own time loop, running the same leads, in the same neighborhoods, with the same homeowners, having the same problems, and the same reasons they CAN’T buy. When monotony negatively affects the mindset of your salespeople, they get bored and begin to do and say different things leading to inconsistent results. This leads to selling slumps, selling short, quitting, or worse, are allowed to flounder leading to a degraded culture and lost profits!

If you have a selling system, you must continuously remind your salespeople WHY they need to follow it. That knowing exactly what they are going to encounter in an appointment, and being prepared with proven, effective responses and solutions is a gift that should be embraced, NOT resisted, because it results in consistently higher closing ratios and commissions.

If you do NOT have a selling system, owners, managers, and salespeople become BYSTANDERS when enduring inconsistent sales results, waiting for things to improve instead of being PARTICIPANTS, proactively working on the established steps and behaviors inherent in a selling system to quickly get back on track leading to HIGHER highs and LOWER lows. Like Phil Connors, your salespeople will also break their time loop by embracing the gift of monotony, having evolved into a better salespeople, having a positive impact on the prospects they meet, concluding with a positive and heartwarming resolution: CONSISTENT SALES!

Further, how will you consistently attract, develop, and keep ALPHA salespeople, or develop your legacy sales team into the ALPHA sales team you need to deliver the consistent sales and profits that you deserve for taking on all the risk?

DON’T REINVENT THE WHEEL FOLLOW THE SYSTEM!

I’m reminded of a conversation between my ALPHA salesman, Mike, and a beta salesman, Greg, (6 years ago) who was struggling financially, AGAIN, because he wasn’t following our ALPHA Selling System, AGAIN:

MIKE: Greg, you’re naturally a better salesperson than me, if you would just follow the (ALPHA) system, you’d sell more often, solving your money issues.

GREG: Yeah, but it’s boring to follow the system all the time

MIKE: HOW BORING IS IT TO EARN OVER 235K LAST YEAR TO YOUR 100K?

GREG: F*** Y**, LOL…
