The Surprising Connection Between Groundhog Day and…Home Improvement Sales?

Art often imitates life, and that couldn't be truer for home improvement business owners than in the movie Groundhog Day.

In it, Bill Murray is forced to relive Groundhog Day over and over. At first, he's miserable. He even tries killing himself! But he wakes up the next day anyway.

Much like what we experience in the home improvement industry, it can feel like we're experiencing the exact same day, over and over again. Running similar leads, talking about similar products, speaking to similar people.

But finally, Bill Murray's character starts to use the fact that he's repeating the same day, over and over again. And he starts to become a better man.

Each day, he gets better, until eventually, he uses the power of repetition and predictability to get exactly what he wants.

As entrepreneurs, systems and repetition often make us want to pull our hair out. For most of us, it's not in our wiring. Likewise, your salespeople are probably "Dominant" or high-D personalities on the DISC Analysis scale. They aren't just bored by repetition - they cannot stand it.

This week, shift their perspective (and your own). Once you accept the system for what it is, you can embrace it and use it to your advantage to do just what Bill Murray did - get EXACTLY what you want.
